ISRO Awards Announced

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) instituted ISRO Awards Scheme during 2006 to recognise the contributions made by individuals and teams to the success of respective projects and programmes of ISRO. The scheme consists of five types of individual awards and team awards, namely, Life Time Achievement Award and Outstanding Achievement Award given bi-annually and Performance Excellence Awards, Merit Awards, Young Scientists Awards and Team Excellence Awards given annually.

The ISRO Awards for the year 2007 were announced by Dr G Madhavan Nair, Chairman, ISRO today (August 12, 2008) during Dr Vikram Sarabhai’s Birth Day Celebrations held at ISRO Headquarters, Antariksh Bhavan, Bangalore. Seven Performance Excellence Awards of Rs.5.00 lakhs each, 20 Merit awards of Rs.1.00 lakh each, 30 Young Scientists Merit awards of Rs.50,000/- each, three Team Excellence awards of Rs. 5.00 lakhs per team and 12 Team Excellence awards of Rs.2.00 lakhs per team were announced.

These awards will be distributed to the recipients during a formal function to be organised later.
